Decatur Street - Best Restaurants

Running parallel to the Mississippi River in New Orleans is Decatur Street.  It’s the home to sights like Jackson Square and just steps from the Moon Walk, the riverside promenade the traces the edge of the river.  It’s a popular avenue for shopping, as much as it is for photographing.

In between shopping and exploring, take a break and visit one of our favorite restaurants on Decatur Street.

Bubba Gump Shrimp Company

Bubba Gump Shrimp Company is a fun and festive restaurant for the whole family that takes inspiration from the movie, Forrest Gump. The restaurant mixes Southern décor with movie memorabilia and of course shrimp made in more than ten different ways.

Café Giovanni

A fine dining favorite on Decatur is Café Giovanni. This restaurant features the “New World Italian” cuisine of Chef Duke LoCicero. Sounds of live opera fill the restaurant three nights a week and every night of the week, you can enjoy their cuisine that mixes American, Creole, French and Italian.

Crescent City Brewhouse

One of my personal favorites is the Crescent City Brew House.  They feature innovative New Orleans cuisine and craft beer brewed on premises.  They have a 17 barrel brewery that follows the Bavarian Purity Law of 1516.

House Of Blues

House Of Blues is known as a music venue, but did you also know that they have a restaurant? Neither did I until recently and I can’t count how many shows I’ve seen there. Their menu features a wide variety of entrees including New Orleans favorites like Creole seafood jambalaya and crawfish risotto.

Huck Finn’s Café

Huck Finn’s promises the best Cajun Cuisine, using local ingredients and a distinctively Big Easy flair. Try out their shrimp po-boys, jambalaya or muffuletta, then watch the big game on one of their many television screens located around the restaurant.

Tujagues

Tujague’s is the second oldest restaurant in the French Quarter. It’s been around since horse drawn carriages traveled up and down Decatur. Today it’s known for their piquant shrimp remoulade and juicy beef brisket po-boys.

Now, I’m starving! Luckily, it’s almost time for me to take a break for lunch.
