Yay! Canal Street Gets A New Cafe Beignet!
Break out the powdered sugar! Café Beignet has opened its fourth location in New Orleans. Café Beignet at 622 Canal Street is now open, joining shops on Decatur, Bourbon and Royal. It is currently open Thursday through Monday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. at a location most recently occupied by PJ’s Coffee. Erected in 1859, 622 Canal St. is a rare surviving cast iron fronted commercial building.
Lest you think Café Beignet is an upstart, let us remind you that this beloved beignet shop opened the doors of its first establishment in 1990. For thirty years, visitors and locals alike have enjoy eating and relaxing in their charming dining rooms and lush courtyards.
Along with fresh handmade beignets and an extensive breakfast menu, they serve up New Orleans specialties like red beans, muffulettas, gumbo, jambalaya and as well as an impressive sandwich menu. And don’t forget the coffee! An ice café au lait sounds pretty great about now.
