One of the highlights of Tales of the Cocktail every year is the Spirited Dinners. This year, they take place on Thursday, July 19th and four of our favorite restaurants are among those playing host.
Free the Spirits
At 8 p.m., gather at Landry’s Seafood House in Jackson Brewery for Free the Spirits, a Tales of the Cocktail Spirited Dinner presented by Campari Group and Liber & Co. Enjoy a five-course meal prepared by Executive Concept Chef Anthony Dee, paired with hauntingly delicious cocktails named for legendary ghosts believed to haunt New Orleans.
Sip on a Madame Delphine Lalaurie while noshing on Blue Crab Hushpuppies, Crab + Avocado Toast, and Shrimp Remoulade + Butter Lettuce. Dive into a Fried Oyster Salad while nursing a Jean Lafitte. Sup on Yellowfin Tuna with a General Andrew Jackson and Heritage Farms Cheshire Pork with a Voodoo Queen (named for Marie Laveau). For dessert, have a Coconut Panna Cotta with a General Beauregard. Seating is limited so make your reservations now.
Festival de SoBou
Savor the flavors of Louisiana and Old San Juan at Festival de SoBou, a street party from 7 p.m. – 9:30 p.m. with stalls offering up the traditional street foods of Puerto Rico and Louisiana.
Be entertained by street performers. Enjoy cooking and cocktail demonstrations with SoBou Chef Juan Carlos Gonzalez, Bar Chef Laura Bellucci and the staff of “La Factoria” from San Juan. The evening is sponsored by Don Q Rum. View the menu. Book here.
A Night of Southern Charm
At 7 p.m, join us at Morton’s The Steakhouse for A Night of Southern Charm with mixologists Paul Sanguinetti of Diageo and Chris Hopkins of Bacardi. The duo will pair inventive cocktails with their modern interpretations of New Orleans classic fare –offerings like Louisiana Sunburst Salad, Crawfish Crab Cakes, Roasted Stuffed Quail, SRF Wagyu “Zabuton” Steak, and Turtle Bread Pudding. Vieux the complete menu. Make reservations by calling (504) 566-0221.
The 11th Hour
Be transported to another place and time at The 11th Hour, an evening centered on the worship of Vodou at Napoleon House.
Watch local Vodou Priestess Sallie Ann Glassman conjure up spirits. Enjoy offerings from Gina Chersevani (“mixtress” of Buffalo & Bergen in Washington DC), Charlotte Voisey (of William Grant & Sons Distillers Ltd), Lynnette Marrero (co-founder of SpeedRack, an international women’s cocktail competition), and Chris Montero (chef of Napoleon House).
