Did Somebody Say King Cake Festival? Oh, Baby!

December 22 2018 | What's New

In New Orleans, we have festivals celebrating oysters, po-boys, seafood, wine, fried chicken, BBQ, cocktails, gumbo, beignets, Creole tomatoes, boudin and tacos but, BABY, there’s still room on the calendar, and in our tummies, for the 6th Annual King Cake Festival! Don your best purple, green and gold attire and head to Champions Square on January 27 for this event benefitting babies and children at Ochsner Hospital for Children.

This year, more than twenty bakeries will vie for titles including “Best Presentation,” “Most Unique,” “Best Traditional” and “People’s Choice.” Participating bakeries including one of our favorites, Cannata’s King Cakes, the 2017 “People’s Choice” winner. They offer 60 fabulous flavors, including Apple Cinnamon Pecan, Strawberry Cream Cheese, King Creole Praline, the Tigerrrr Gooey Butter King Cake, the Bayou Alligator King Cake (a pistachio coconut Bavarian infusion) and more. We can’t wait!

But it isn’t all icing and sprinkles. This free festival includes live music and heart-healthy activities for king cake lovers all ages. Learn more.
