Absinthe Frappe
Recipe by Old Absinthe House
In 1815, the ground floor of the iconic white building at the corners of Bienville and Bourbon streets was converted from a prototypical corner grocery into a saloon known as "Aleix's Coffee House." This coffee house was later rechristened "The Absinthe Room" when mixologist Cayetano Ferrer created the famous Absinthe House Frappe here in 1874.
Specialty drink description:
Invented here by Cayetano Ferrer, the Absinthe Frappe is a surefire way to beat the heat. This deceptively simple highball is made with Herbsaint, Anisette, and your favorite soda water.
