For 70+ years, generations of oyster aficionados have bellied up to the oyster bar at Felix’s Restaurant and Oyster Bar in the French Quarter.
Felix’s secret, it seems, has everything to do with freshness. They say their oysters are harvested from the top Louisiana oyster beds, put on a refrigerated truck and sent straight to their restaurant in the Quarter where the shuckers “waste no time” getting them onto your plate.
Along with oysters, Felix serves authentic Creole and Cajun dishes like red beans & rice, gumbo, jambalaya, po-boys and wonderful fried seafood platters. Save room, if you can, for the Creole Pecan Pie.
In 2017, Felix’s expanded their Iberville location, connecting it with a Bourbon Street space they once occupied for more than 20 years. Now they have a large L-shaped restaurant with entrances on both streets. They also own another location in New Orleans with views of Lake Pontchartrain, as well as a restaurant in Gulfport, Mississippi, overlooking the Gulf of Mexico.
