Restaurant Overview

Suis Generis is small but eclectic, like the artsy Bywater neighborhood around it. Everything on the Suis Generis menu is made from fresh, local ingredients. The offerings are constantly evolving based on what’s in season and available locally.

TThe idea for Suis Generis came together almost 20 years ago in Philadelphia where the two owners met. They planned to open in 2005, but Hurricane Katrina struck the day before their inspection was scheduled. However, they didn’t let the disaster stop them. They came back, reassembled and did all of the construction themselves.

Today, Suis Generis draws on both local and international influences. Everyone from hipster locals to foodies visiting town can find something to love on the menu.

Suis Generis is open for dinner Wednesday through Sunday. On the weekends, they serve Saturday and Sunday brunch. They are always closed during home Saints games.
