Valentine's Day Dinner Recommendations

Rose with Fork & KnifeWith so much going on in New Orleans right now, you may not realize that Valentine's Day is just two days after Mardi Gras. Since Valentine's Day reservations can be hard to come by, we're providing an early reminder with recommendations for romantic dinners.

A few of our favorite restaurants are providing special Valentine's Day prix fixe menus:

  • Le Meritage is nestled deep in the French Quarter at the Maison Dupuy Hotel. Known for its extensive wine list, Le Meritage is the perfect spot for a romantic Valentine's Day dinner.  Their special menu features three courses, with optional wine pairings. The black sea bass entree with P & J oysters, spinach and a lemon beurre blanc sounds delicious. Dinner includes a complimentary glass of champagne and a long stemmed strawberry for each diner.
  • 7 on Fulton is located on Convention Center Boulevard inside the Wyndham Riverfront Hotel.  They're also offering a three course menu, with optional free-flowing champagne pairing. Highlights from 7 on Fulton's menu include pepper-crusted beef tenderloin, jumbo blue crab bisque and an intriguing pomegranate panna cotta. Also note that complimentary valet parking is available at the hotel's front entrance.
  • Cafe Giovanni always provides a memorable experience.  This year's Valentine's Day will be even better because it falls on a Thursday, the night the Cafe Giovanni opera singers are entertaining guests. Chef Duke has a decadent three course menu ready for diners.  Most notable is the Shrimp and Duck Decatur, a duck breast topped with grilled Louisiana shrimp and spicy tasso mushroom cream sauce.

Remember to make reservations early.  Many restaurants will be booked come the week of Mardi Gras. Enjoy the Mardi Gras holiday, and remember to save a little merriment for Valentine's Day, too.
