The French Quarter is foodie heaven, but one of our favorite places is a restaurant tucked away in the Maison Dupuy hotel, the Bistreaux. Located on Toulouse Street, it’s almost in a world of its own! Enjoy a unique experience mixed with elegant dining and a lighthearted atmosphere, complete with walls decorated in unique New Orleans style murals and a big bright beautiful bar—inviting you to pull up a chair and stay awhile.
Whether you’re looking for traditional New Orleans cuisine or looking to sample something new, Executive Chef Jason Schwartz serves delicious “comfort food inspired” dishes that are absolutely to die for! And you can find the restaurant manager, John Jackson, ensuring diners enjoy a top-notch experience, from the time they’re greeted at the door.
We were greeted with friendly faces and fresh cocktails. Our favorite: the Patron Margarita, hands down. The top shelf tequila (silver), orange liqueur, and sour mix served in a salt rimmed glass and topped with a lime.
During our visit, we were treated to some old classics, like the Spicy Jerk Wings (jumbo lump crab piled over thick creole tomato) and some instant favorites like the BBQ Grilled Pig Wings (slow braised pork shanks, tossed in barbecue sauce and grilled to perfection). And Chef Jason had a special surprise waiting—he let us sample creamy crab truffle delight that hasn’t made its way to the menu yet. But when it does, we know where we’ll be—the only way to describe this masterpiece is delightful cheese covered heaven. YUM! Discover their full menu!
So we recommend you head to this hidden gem next time you’re in the area. Your taste buds will thank you!
