Clarinet Bistreaux is a Must-Geaux

Lunch at a Holiday Inn when in New Orleans? Are you kidding? No, we're not. The Clarinet Bistreaux in the artsy Holiday Inn Downtown Superdome is a local restaurant that just happens to be in a national hotel – one of the best Holiday Inns in the country, if you ask us. The fact that the restaurant is run by locals is evident in every bite. This is authentic New Orleans cooking. And located on the streetcar line and just steps to the Superdome, it's a great place to know about whether you're a guest of the hotel, staying nearby, are a local who works in the CBD, or are on your way to a Saints or Pelicans game.

The Clarinet Bistreaux is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner and weekend brunch. We dropped by for lunch recently and are glad we did.

The lunch menu is geared to the tastes of both locals and visitors. You'll find New Orleans favorites like Fried Shrimp Po-boys made with fresh Gulf shrimp, drizzed with remoulade sauce, and Chicken and Andouille Gumbo with a rich, dark, smoky roux, but you'll also find an impressive selection of sandwiches and salads  If you love a good club or a wrap of any kind, swing on into the Clarinet.

The service at the Clarinet is what you'd expect from a New Orleans restaurant. They've got this Southern hospitality thing down pat.

Finally, the proof that Clarinet Bistreaux belongs on your Must-Geaux List is in the Bread Pudding with Rum Sauce. Served warm with a cup of coffee, it's the perfect end to a perfect meal.
