Where to Grab a Bite on Metairie Road

April 6 2018 | What's New

Metairie Road Louisiana

Shady oaks. Chic boutiques. One-of-a-kind restaurants both casual and fine. All with a warm neighborhood vibe. There's nothing like wiling away a few hours on Old Metairie Road, just a ten-minute drive from downtown New Orleans.  In many ways, Metairie Road, which becomes City Park Avenue, is more convenient to get to than Magazine Street and the French Quarter. Plus the parking is free and it's easier to find a space. Here are four great places to eat.

Byblos

Byblos on Metairie Road

If you're a fan of Greek food, Byblos is a must. We're especially fond of the Fish of the Day Kabobs with grilled vegetables. Of course, we never met a Chicken Shawarma or a Gyro Platter we didn't like. Tip: if you're on a low-carb diet, you can ask for cucumbers with your hummus instead of pita bread. Learn more

Porter & Luke's

Porter & Lukes

Can't get enough fresh Gulf seafood? We're right there with you! Porter & Luke's is one of our favorite places to get a seafood platter in the city. They also have a great burger, and Food Critic Tom Fitzmorris put them on his list of Top 10 Best Places to Get Fried Chicken. Plus, if you love a good crab dip, they do it right here. Prepare to pass the warm crostinis! Learn more

Loft18

Loft 18

If you're looking for comfort food and fun cocktails, give Loft18 a shot. Loft18 is to golf what bowling alleys are to that sport – only much hipper. You can enjoy simulated golf play on your choice of 95 different world-famous courses while dining on sliders, wings and other gastro pub fare. It's an ideal place to watch sporting events, have a bachelor party or just hang with friends. Learn more
