Restaurant Overview

A locally owned family restaurant, Deanie's Seafood Restaurants have been known for their huge portions of the best boiled, broiled and fried seafood in New Orleans for more than 50 years.

Deanie's Seafood Restaurants' three locations have been recognized among the "Favorite Seafood Restaurants in New Orleans" in local surveys (New Orleans Magazine, Gambit Weekly, nola.com) for years for serving the freshest Louisiana seafood the Gulf has to offer prepared in house with their signature Creole seasonings.

In 2014, Deanie's became the first restaurant in New Orleans to serve certified "Authentic Louisiana Wild Seafood," which ensures customers they are enjoying natural, sustainable Louisiana seafood sourced from Gulf waters. Some of Deanie's customer favorites include the Giant Seafood Platter, New Orleans Barbeque Shrimp, Boiled Crawfish and Soft Shell Crab.

Deanie's Seafood operates two successful restaurants in Bucktown and the French Quarter, a seafood market and off-site catering serving the authentic flavor of New Orleans. Deanie's also ships delicious prepared and fresh Louisiana seafood throughout the United States through its online retail site www.shopdeanies.com, including Louisiana oysters, shrimp, crawfish and blue crab.

A top destination for visitors to New Orleans, the French Quarter restaurant offers two private dining rooms plus a beautiful courtyard providing an authentic New Orleans dining experience for corporate events, meetings, socials and celebrations of up to 130 guests.

History

Deanie's Seafood Restaurant and Seafood Market was established in 1961. The original owners were John and Alma (Deanie) Livacari. Initially, the business was located on Old Hammond Highway before moving to Orpheum Street and finally to Lake Avenue, where Deanie's Seafood Restaurant & Seafood Market resides today.

Deanies was the first seafood market to open its doors in the quaint fishing village of Bucktown and one of the first to sell boiled seafood such as shrimp, crawfish and blue crab.

In 1982, Frank and Barbara Chifici, former founders and owners of Gromboli's and Chifici's restaurants, took over Deanie's Seafood Restaurants neighborhood restaurant in Bucktown. Since the passing of Frank Chifici, Deanie's proprietor, Barbara Chifici, with her seven children, continue to expand the Deanie's legacy, building a locally owned, family-operated business that has evolved into one of the top seafood restaurants in New Orleans over the last 30+ years. In 2001, Deanie's Seafood's second location was opened in the former D. H. Holmes Department Store Annex at the corner of Iberville and Dauphine Streets in the heart of the French Quarter. Deanie's French Quarter restaurant offers an Art Deco appeal reminiscent of the D.H. Holmes cafeteria and delivers the same fresh Louisiana seafood prepared in Deanie's signature Creole seasonings that has satisfied generations of fans.
