Restaurant Overview

For decades, millions of people from all over the world have discovered the magic of Creole cuisine at The Original French Market Restaurant & Bar on the corner of Decatur and St. Phillip. Come take a seat on their balcony and find out why Trip Advisor has rated it one of best restaurants in New Orleans.

Unlike some restaurants, everything on the menu at The Original French Market Restaurant & Bar is made 100% from scratch every day – no frozen sauces or pre-packaged dishes allowed! The restaurant has been in the Marulla family since day one and they still use many of Grandma Annie Marullo's original Creole recipes. Of course, when it comes to seafood, you’ll find none fresher. The Original French Market Restaurant and Bar uses only the freshest Louisiana jumbo shrimp and oysters from local distributors they know and trust.

The bar offers lots of luscious libations, including classic New Orleans cocktails like the Sazerac, the Cajun Bloody and the French Market Hurricane. We’re a big fan of The Cajun Nooner made with Absolut Mandarin Vodka, Bayou Satsuma Liqueur and Sweet Community Iced Tea, garnished with an orange slice

Food-wise, indulge in New Orleans delicacies like Creole Char-grilled Oysters, Boiled Crawfish, Shrimp and Crabs and Fried Alligator. Don’t you dare leave town without trying the St. Phillip Po-Boy featuring Fried Green Tomatoes with Goat Cheese and a Sweet Pepper Crawfish Sauce. And who can say no to the Swamp Platter with Shrimp Creole, Blackened Alligator and Maque Choux? For dessert, you’ll have a tough time choosing between the Bourbon Pecan Pie, the White Chocolate Praline Bread Pudding and the Creole Cream Cheesecake. Good luck!
