Breakfast Like a Local at Oceana Grill

October 10, 2026 | What's New

For years, Petunias, a beloved French Quarter restaurant on St. Louis Street, was famous for its oversized crepes and big, indulgent breakfasts—the kind that could keep you going well into the afternoon. Petunia’s is gone now, but part of that breakfast tradition lives on at Oceana Grill.

When Petunia’s closed, Oceana Grill brought over much of its breakfast menu, along with Petunia’s chef at the time, giving longtime fans a new place to find some of the dishes they missed.

Today, Oceana serves breakfast daily from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m., and the menu still has plenty of that old-school French Quarter spirit.

This Is Not a Coffee-And-Toast Kind of Breakfast.

There’s Pain Perdu made New Orleans-style with French bread, Bananas Foster French Toast covered in praline rum sauce and a hearty Country Breakfast with eggs, hash browns, grits, a biscuit and your choice of bacon or chicken sausage.

If you want something with a little more Louisiana in it, try Maw Maw’s Cajun Breakfast, which scrambles bacon and shrimp with eggs and jambalaya rice, or the Cajun Hash, piled with shrimp or crawfish, peppers and onions over crispy hash browns with cheddar and a sunny-side-up egg.

And then there are the crepes. Petunia’s made its name in part with enormous crepes, and Oceana keeps crepes on the breakfast menu today. The savory St. James comes filled with shrimp, onions, peppers and cheddar, while the St. Francis combines shrimp, ratatouille and Swiss cheese. For something sweet, the Dessert Crepe Pasta turns sliced crepes into ribbons topped with strawberries, bananas, peaches, whipped cream, powdered sugar and honey.

You’ll also find Crab Cakes Benedict, a crawfish omelette topped with hollandaise, a seafood omelette loaded with shrimp and crawfish, and BBQ Shrimp & Grits—because around here, seafood before noon makes perfect sense.

Oceana Grill is tucked just off Bourbon Street at 739 Conti Street, which makes it an especially easy stop if you’re staying in or exploring the French Quarter. Visit their website.
