Restaurant Overview
Locals and visitors alike love 4141, a laid-back Uptown New Orleans cocktail lounge and bar nestled on the St. Charles Streetcar line, along with New Orleans Hamburger & Seafood Company and a sweet coffee shop called Uptown Coffee.
4141 is the perfect spot for relaxed early evening drinks, lively happy hours, and is a great place to watch your favorite teams battle it out. They offer handcrafted cocktails, beer, wine, and specialty seasonal drinks, served alongside bar eats from the 4141 menu. They offer sliders and fun bar snacks, such as Pork Skins, Soft Pretzel Sticks (available in both sweet and savory flavors), Seafood Beignets, and more. You can also get oysters and shrimp practically any way you want them here (don’t skip the Y’at Y’at Sauce). Or you can choose something from New Orleans Hamburger & Seafood menu.
Patrons can’t say enough about 4141’s daily happy hour from 3 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. The bar also frequently hosts live music and Trivia Nights where you can win gift certificates, making it a social hub where locals, college students and visitors alike mix over great drinks and good conversation. If you don’t come by streetcar, you'll find easy parking here.
What's more, there's a fun venue space upstairs which is perfect for group gatherings. During Carnival season, this is the place to watch the parades.
A Little History
The story of 4141 St. Charles goes back much further than the current bar and lounge. Long before the modern iteration existed, this Uptown corner was home to a restaurant and nightlife hub that played an important part in the city’s social scene. In the mid-20th century, the building housed Ched’s bar and the restaurant Stephen and Martin's — and in the 1970s and 80s, the bar became known as Forty-One Forty-One, one of New Orleans’ most talked-about singles and disco bars of the era. After the disco era, the spot became Cannon's Restaurant. In the early 2010s, the building was taken over by the New Orleans Hamburger & Seafpod Co. group, which introduced a full bar component as part of its concept at this corner location.
Fun Fact: We're pretty sure Uptown Coffee is the only spot on St. Charles Avenue that serves beignets — mini ones, too. You can also get Spiked Cafe Au Lait and an Infused Frozen Cafe Au Lait. Yum!
