Restaurant Overview

SoBou is one of the newer restaurants from the Commander's Palace family of restaurants.   They offer an innovative menu of delicious food you’ll crave in the warmth of a tavern environment with cocktails and wine taking left and right stage.  

Sobou, named for South of Bourbon, is located in the heart of the French Quarter in an absolutely beautiful location. Its stunning interior features lighted bottles throughout the restaurant creating ambient lighting and a romantic vibe.  The atmosphere is sleek and modern and features tables equipped with self-pour beer and wine taps.

As expected, the service is impeccable and the wait staff is knowledgeable and friendly.  The creative menu has a touch of Creole and is beautifully presented.   It features Sweet Potato Beignets (named one of the “10 Best Beignets in New Orleans” by USA Today), Shrimp with Tasso on skewers set in a rum-soaked pineapple, Tuna Cones with fruit and herb salsa mixed with fresh tuna and topped with avocado basil ice cream, 24-hour Smoked Pork Rillette paired with Pork Rinds and Onion Jam, Shrimp Po Boys, and more. 

Not to mention their creative cocktails and 25-cent martinis!  Its award-winning cocktails are top notch, receiving “The Best Mixologists of the South” designation by Tasting Table and the “Best Gin Cocktail in America” by Restaurant Hospitality!  SoBou is also known as one of the “Top 10 Boozy Brunch Spots in New Orleans.”   Their wine has received the “Award of Excellence” by Wine Spectator every year.

SoBou’s all-star team includes “Cocktail Chick” Ti Adelaide Martin of Commander’s Palace, Alex Brennan-Martin of Brennan’s of Houston, cousin Brad Brennan, and Commander’s Palace team members Executive Chef Tory McPhail, General Manager Steve Woodruff, and Wine Guy Dan Davis.

SoBou is also available for private events.  The have a Beer Garden, semi-private pool room and the Saloon.   Their Party in a Pinch features food and drinks for five people for $99 including a special fancy cocktail with the option to add more for an additional per-person charge. 

Limited complimentary parking is available at the W Hotel; parking is also validated for a discounted rate at the nearby Premium Parking on Chartres.
