NOLA River Fest - October 23, 11 am - 7 pm

  • Come celebrate the Mississippi River with us on October 23rd! Our 9th annual NOLA River Fest will be an all-day outdoor celebration at the New Orleans Jazz Museum with your favorite local live bands and food vendors, an arts market, and more! At the festival you can: 

    • Second line with the N’Awlins D’Awlins Babydolls and the Original Wild Tchoupitoulas Mardi Gras Indians from Jackson Square to the museum at 11 am.

    • Take a guided walking tour of the Mississippi River with The Water Collaborative! More information about the 8:30 am Brunch Green Tour and the 6:00 pm Sunset Green Tour can be found on their Facebook page.

    • Grab a bite to eat or a cocktail to sip on while you watch live acts such as Tremé-Lafitte Brass Band, Sunpie and the Louisiana Sunspots, Bo Dollis Jr. & the Wild Magnolias, Jason Neville Funky Soul Band, and Casa Samba.





The 9th annual NOLA River Fest taking place on Saturday, October 23rd, 2021 celebrates thecultural, economic and environmental impacts of the Mississippi River and its inhabitants in theCrescent City and the entire Gulf South region. The all-day celebration at the New Orleans JazzMuseum will include live music, delicious local food, a full bar, and more. Live music willinclude performances by Tremé-Lafitte Brass Band, Sunpie and the Sunspot, Bo Dollis Jr. & theWild Magnolias and Jason Neville Funky Soul Band.

The N’Awlins D’Awlins Babydolls and the Original Wild Tchoupitoulas Mardi Gras Indians ledby Big Queen Mary K Stevenson will start the day off with a second line, beginning at 11:00 amin Jackson Square and heading towards the New Orleans Jazz Museum.

 “As we continue to navigate the COVID pandemic and recover from damage caused byhurricane Ida, it’s all the more important we keep our cultural traditions alive,” said GregLambousy, Director of the New Orleans Jazz Museum. “Fortunately, with our large grounds thattake up an entire city block, the New Orleans Jazz Museum is uniquely positioned to make thishappen.”

 Food vendors at this year’s River Fest include Carmo, Clesi’s Seafood, Street and Soul 504, andFriends of Culture. Riverfest features all local vendors, and the food served will highlight theCaribbean influences and traditions on the Gulf Coast cuisine. In collaboration with theLouisiana Crafts Guild, an outdoor arts market with local artisans will also take place on theMuseum grounds from 12:00pm to 6:00pm.

River Fest is presented by a coalition of institutions that include the New Orleans Jazz Museum,Restore the Mississippi River Delta, Water Collaborative, and the French Market Corporation;this year’s festival partners include the Louisiana Seafood Board, National Wildlife Foundation,New Orleans Master Gardeners, LSU Agricultural Center, Louisiana 4-H Foundation, OffbeatMagazine, and the Ella Project. Maker’s Mark is this year’s presenting sponsor.
