Founders and entrepreneurs Gary Darling, Hans Limburg, and Greg Reggio–known as The Taste Buds–are three renegade chefs with extensive backgrounds in the food world. New Orleans embraced their daring ideas when they opened the first Semolina on sheer creativity, pure instinct, and economic courage 17 years ago.

The restaurants took off. The chef trio devised outrageous pasta dishes to match their personalities, prepared a la minute–at the last minute. Semolina flourished and grew to several locations.

Another notion they have introduced is the prototype Semolina’s Bistro Italia. The menu at these kissing cousin restaurants keeps the best of Semolina's international pasta dishes, replacing others with dishes with deeper roots in Italian cooking.

Following their Semolina adventure, the three chefs created the wildly popular Zea Rotisserie and Grill.  There are four Zea locations in the New Orleans area. Darling, Reggio and Limburg have a knack for dialing in the product at the right price to reach active, hungry guests.   

The atmosphere at Semolina’s Bistro Italia is casual yet sophisticated.  Guests can feel comfortable dining at the ”Bistro” whether they are in casual attire or sporting a more formal look.  Patio dining is also available.  If you are looking for a place to enjoy a delicious glass of wine Semolina’s Bistro Italia has a comfortable bar offering an array of specialty cocktails.
