Thanksgiving Day Dining Options

November 19 2012 | Restaurants

Thanksgiving TurkeyWith Thanksgiving this week the holidays are now officially upon us, and we're ready to eat! Some of you may still be trying to decide want to do for lunch or dinner on Thanksgiving Day, and you're in luck! We've got several solutions for you. Quite a few of our favorite restaurants are open and still have reservations available for either lunch or dinner.

All of these restaurants are in the French Quarter, which is convenient because a nice walk may be needed after these large delicious holiday meals. Please call each restaurant to check on reservation availability. Remember, most won't be able to accommodate walk-ins. Check out the listings below for restaurants categorized by the type of menu being offered.

Prix Fixe Options

Most restaurants on our list are serving prix fixe menus which means they are serving a certain number of courses for a set price. Prices vary by restaurant, but most are around $50 per person.  Each restaurant has at least two selections per course so variety is plentiful.

The Bombay Club is open for late lunch starting at 1 pm and will remain open through dinner.  They will also be serving a four-course Thanksgiving-themed menu. For those looking to dine early in the day, Café Giovanni is serving brunch only (12 pm-3:30 pm) featuring a three course menu with a wide variety of delicious selections. Finally, Tujague's, who normally serves a set five-course menu each day, is featuring a Thanksgiving-themed menu from 11 am - 9 pm.

Buffet Options

For those looking for variety and big portions along with quality, you can visit the Red Fish Grill.  They open early at 10:30 am and will remain open until 9 pm. The buffet features a wide variety of Thanksgiving dishes.  Please be advised that they only have room left for small tables for four or less as of the date of this post.

Non-Thanksgiving Menu Options

If you're looking for something different, a couple of stalwart restaurants are serving their classics. Brennan's is serving their regular menu for both lunch and dinner. Additionally, the Court of Two Sisters still has availability at dinner with their regular menu.  Both of these places are New Orleans standards and are sure to satisfy your desire for non-turkey day food.

Regardless of whether you dine out or cook at home, please eat well and have a very happy and prosperous Thanksgiving!
