Antoine's Celebrates 175th Anniversary

December 17 2014 | Restaurants

Feeling at home surround by the French-speaking aristocracy, 18-year-old Antoine Alciatore settled in New Orleans in 1840 after a brief stint in New York City.  Here, he opened his namesake restaurant that has remained in his family and a Big Easy staple 174 years and counting.

In 2015, New Orleans’ award-winning Antoine’s will celebrate 175 years of serving some of the finest food in the country! To celebrate, the restaurant has a published a work containing the history of Antoine himself, New Orleans culinary history, and Antoine’s most prized recipes.

The book narrates everything from the story of his apprenticeship with a great chef in France to opening a charming hotel in New Orleans to creating a world-class fine dining establishment.

Like a fine wine, Antoine’s continues to get better with age—winning numerous prestigious local and national accolades throughout the years including: “Best French Quarter Restaurant” from Where Y’at Magazine, Zagat’sMost Popular Restaurants in New Orleans” and “Best Décor in New Orleans,” Frommer’s “Top 10 Literary Landmarks in New Orleans,” “Top 10 Must-Visit Classic Restaurants” from Bon Appetit, Forbes’ “America’s Great Historic Restaurants,” and more!

And of course, we love Antoine's. If you haven't tried the Oyster Rockefeller from Antoine's then you're letting some of the best things in life pass you by! Or enjoy an authentic New Orleans jazz brunch!

The three-in-one book makes the perfect gift and can be purchased at Antoine’s or online.
