For fourteen years, Morton’s The Steakhouse has been the place to go on Canal Street for extraordinary steak and fresh Gulf seafood.
Saints and Pelican players, musicians, Mardi Gras royalty, celebrities from all over the world….they’ve all found what they’re looking for at this swanky restaurant located on the edge of the French Quarter in Canal Place. Famous guests have included Bruce Willis, Sylvester Stallone, Macy Gray and Valerie Bertinelli. Mark Wahlberg even has his own wine locker there.
In a city filled with great restaurants, Morton’s stands out–perhaps because they serve only USDA Prime-Aged Beef, the top 2% of beef available in America. New Orleans Magazine has named Morton’s “The Best Place for Steak,” Where Y’at Magazine called it “The Best Steakhouse,” and Zagat gave it a thumbs up on its list of “Top Steakhouses.” The restaurant also offers a magnificent view of Canal Street–ideal during parade season.
In New Orleans, we love our cocktails and Morton’s doesn’t disappoint. Their menu is extensive and includes local favorites such as the Pimm’s Cup and the Sazerac, as well as fun choices like Golden Pineapple.
We enjoyed a crisp Caesar Salad and an amazing Prime Ribeye with Mashed Potatoes. (They also offer a Prime Cajun Ribeye, if you’re looking for local flavor.) For dessert, we were treated to the Double Chocolate Mousse–the perfect end to the perfect meal.
Although there are 78 Morton’s in the U.S. and abroad, the one in New Orleans, like everything else in this city, is unique. At parties and special events, Executive Chef Darren Tonner (pictured) serves up dishes you won’t find on any other Morton’s menu. New Orleans-inspired menu options include Crawfish Cakes, New Orleans Barbecue Shrimp, Crab Cakes, Fried Oysters, Grilled Redfish and White Chocolate Bread Pudding. Speaking of events, Morton’s party room features spectacular views of Canal Street – a real treat in Carnival Season when there are parades rolling down below.
