Head Uptown on a streetcar and explore the Garden District, a part of the city that is known for its beauty in both the scenery and architecture. Here you can find a mix of restaurants that are perfect to mix with a day of sightseeing or shopping.

Byblos Mediterranean

Craving some Greek, Lebanese or coastal Mediterranean cuisine? Byblos is a fun, casual Mediterranean restaurant on vibrant Magazine Street. They use fresh, savory ingredients to create their dishes. They have a large selection of lamb dishes, as well as house made hummus that are two must try’s.

Pascal’s Manale

Since 1913, Pascal’s Manale has been serving up delicious cuisine, including their Original Pascal’s Barbeque Shrimp on Napoleon Avenue. The shrimp is their specialty, but it doesn’t stop there.  They also have an oyster bar, a number of Italian dishes, plenty of seafood items and much more on their menu.

Reginelli’s Pizza

When I’m in the mood for pizza, there’s a good chance that I’m making a visit to Reginelli’s on Magazine Street. They have some of the best pizza in the city, as well as a number of other casual Italian options including calzones, pitas, salads and sandwiches. They have $10 bottles of wine on Wednesdays.

Zea Rotisserie & Grill

Zea offers American Cuisine on St. Charles Avenue where the Garden District meets the CBD. On any given day, you can see businessmen stopping in for lunch or families visiting for dinner. Of course, there’s the Rotisserie Chicken to try, but they also have many other meat and seafood options to check out.


Metairie is the near suburb of New Orleans, about ten to fifteen minutes away from the French Quarter if the traffic is behaving on the Expressway. Even if it’s not, there’s a couple of reasons to explore Metairie.


Andrea’s is one of the top Italian restaurants in the New Orleans area and features a five-star American, Northern Italian and seafood entrees with professional European style service. You really can’t go wrong with anything on this menu. If I had to choose something, I would start with the Grilled Filet of Salmon Fiorentina or the Ossobuco Milanese, a veal shank braised and served au jus.
