When: Thursday, February 12 at 6 PM Where: The Arsenal, Jackson Square (enter through the Cabildo) Sponsors: The Louisiana State Museum in association with the Midlo Center for New Orleans Studies, UNO Program: The Louisiana State Museum launches its spring “Second Thursdays” lecture series on New Orleans history and culture with From the Masons to Social Aid & Pleasure Clubs: The Evolution of New Orleans’ Fraternal Societies, presented by Ann Woodruff. Her talk will explore traditions of street parading and mutual aid from the 19th Century to the present. Ms. Woodruff earned a Master of Preservation Studies degree from Tulane University and has been researching fraternal society meeting halls in New Orleans and their links to early jazz music.
