After showing in Washington DC and Austin, TX, Way Down in New Orleans is traveling home to the Crescent City that inspired the curation of the 25 nation-wide artists. These artists were chosen in that their work was a ected by either the storm or the renaissance that has come hand in hand with the city’s rebirth. This traveling work has had a major impact on its viewers outside of NOLA. It serves to : celebrate the rebirth of the great American City, pay homage to the New Orleanian spirit that was lost during Katrina and raise awareness to the arduous rebuilding process. Taking place just after the third anniversary of Hurricane Katrina, and just after New Orleans hosted Prospect One, the largest biennial of international contemporary art ever organized in the United States is honored to present Way Down in New Orleans, an exhibition of over 30 artists and collaboratives inspired by or working in New Orleans.
