Remembering Pearl Harbor at The National World War II Museum



WHAT: Commemorate the day that will live in infamy and honor the Americans that made the ultimate sacrifice with a visit to The National World War II Museum. Pearl Harbor images, oral histories and artifacts are all part of the Museum’s permanent exhibitions. For more information, call 504-527-6012 x 333 or visit www.nationalww2museum.org.



All day events for Saturday and Sunday –

· Pick up a special guide to the exhibits that highlights Pearl Harbor artifacts and oral histories.

· Enjoy WWII family activities including building a Higgins boat, island hopping in the Pacific and code-breaking.

· Where were you on December 7, 1941? – Show us where you were the day you heard the news by making your mark on a U.S. map and then filling out a brief personal history form for the Museum archives.

· See special rarely displayed artifacts like a model of the USS St. Louis with the actual flag that flew over the ship on the day of the attack.

· View period footage from both American and Japanese sources.

· Visit the Museum Store and enjoy a special 20% discount on all items, including books and DVDs related to Pearl Harbor.



Saturday, December 6 only –

· 11:00 am – 12:00 pm

Conversation with Veterans – a panel discussion

· 1:00 pm – 2:00 pm

Pearl Harbor lecture by Jack Henkels, a former interpreter at the USS Arizona Memorial



Sunday, December 7 only –

· 9:45 am – 12:00 pm

Remembering Pearl Harbor – A Memorial Service with a performance by the Navy Reserve Forces Band
