JPAS presents MIRACLE ON 34TH STREET
A Christmas Classic is Brought to the Stage Just in Time for the Holidays!

Do you believe in Santa Claus? A holiday movie classic is coming to the stage this December. Celebrate the magic and the joy of the holiday season with the Jefferson Performing Arts Society's production of MIRACLE ON 34TH STREET, on stage December 5-14 at the Jefferson Performing Arts Center, 400 Phlox Street in Metairie. Performances are Fridays and Saturdays at 7:30pm, and Sundays at 2pm. Janet Shea directs this heart-warming Christmas story.

Tickets are $25-30 for adults, $22-27 for seniors and military, and $19 for students (with valid ID), and $12 for children (12 and under). For tickets call 504.885.2000 or visit www.jpas.org to reserve your tickets today!

This stage version of MIRACLE ON 34TH STREET brings the film's warmth and heart vibrantly to life. During the Christmas season of the late 1940's in New York City, Kris Kringle, a kind-hearted old gentleman, falls into the job of portraying the Macy's Santa Claus. Kris, however, claims he is not just Santa Claus for Macy's but the real Santa Claus, himself! When a store employee gets Kris in trouble, it will take the faith of a child to convince the grown-ups to believe in Santa Claus and the magic of Christmas once again.

Nine-year-old Jenna Ibieta stars as Susan, the inquisitive little girl who convinces the grown-ups to believe in the magic of Christmas. Jenna is already a veteran of the JPAS stage having appeared in several productions including Ruthless! The Musical as Louise Lerhmann; Annie as Molly; and most recently the JPAS Summer Musical Theatre Camp's Westbank Production of Once Upon a Mattress as Queen Aggravaine.

Playing the role of Kris Kringle is Ford Dieth, Jr. He returns to the JPAS stage after appearing in the JPAS recent production of All Shook Up. Ford has also appeared in the JPAS productions of La Traviata, A Christmas Carol and The Great American Trailer Park Musical. When not on stage, he is a fifth grade teacher at Christian Brothers School and lacrosse coach for Christian Brothers and De La Salle High School.

MIRACLE ON 34TH STREET also stars Jennifer Delatte as Doris, Susan's mother. Ms. Delatte was recently seen in JPAS's Madama Butterfly in September. Actively involved in local theater, other recent roles include Emma in St. John Theater's Jekyll and Hyde.

Kris Shaw stars as Fred, Doris' romantic interest and Kris Kringle's lawyer. Shaw was recently seen in the JPAS production of All Shook Up as Jim. He is no stranger to local theatre audiences having played such roles as: Melvin P. Thorpe in Le Petite du Vieux Carre's production of The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas; Antonio Salieri in JPAS's Amadeus (for which he received the Big Easy Award as Best Actor in a Drama); Albert in Bye Bye Birdie and Albin in La Cage Aux Folles with Tulane Summer Lyric.

The cast also includes: Lynne Lawrence (Miss Adams), Jason Kirkpatrick (Mr. Shellhammer), Peter Gabb (Dr. Pierce), Charles Bosworth (Mr. Macy), Melinda Falgoust (Cleo), Angie Joachim, Aaron Reichert, Lauren Gibson, Kristin Schafer, Molly Richard, Madeleine Bourgeois, Kyle Marcon, Anna Dawson, Stephanie Maerke, Chris Turgeon, Jeff Underwood; Valerie St. Amant, Richard St. Amant, Brian Rosenthal, Nina Ballon, Hanna St. Amant, Lainey Farber, and Alyn Wallace as various parents, children, holiday shoppers and more.

MIRACLE ON 34TH STREET is presented and sponsored by Entergy. Novel by Valentine Davies. Adapted by Patricia Di Benedetto Synder, Will Severin and John Vreeke. Underscoring and song by Will Severin. Originally produced by The New York State Theatre Institute. Directed by Janet Shea. Scenic Design by Randal Parsons. Lighting Design by Ryan Hauenstein. Costumes by Kelly James-Penot.
