Jefferson Performing Arts Society Presents NUNSENSE

October 10-26 at the Teatro Wego! Theatre

Get ready for some heavenly hilarity! NUNSENSE is singing and dancing its way onto the stage October 10-26 at the Teatro Wego! Theatre in Westwego. Performances are Friday and Saturday at 7:30PM, with a Sunday Matinee at 2pm. "Uncle" Wayne Daigrepont directs this comic cabaret-style musical performed by the five "Little Sisters of Westwego” with choreography by Lindsey Price and musical direction by Alan Payne with the JPAS Broadway Pit Orchestra. Tickets are $26 for adults, $22 for seniors and military, and $19 for students (with valid ID), and $12 for children (12 and under). For tickets call 504.885.2000 or visit www.jpas.org

Look for more hints of local flavor woven throughout Dan Goggin's Off-Broadway hit in this production! NUNSENSE follows five Sisters as they raise money for a funeral fund for their Order. Due to an unfortunate accident, fifty-two nuns have gone to their final reward after eating bad "crawfish bisque" prepared by Sister Julia, Child of God. The remaining Sisters put on a benefit show, where they'll show off their singing and dancing abilities, with the proceeds going to bury four departed Sisters currently in the convent freezer.

A veteran of several local Nunsense productions, "Uncle" Wayne Daigrepont, is thrilled to be directing this production for JPAS. "In running Porta-Puppet Players for the past 18 years, I have always been called upon to direct & build the puppet scene in NUNSENSE," says Daigrepont. "So, one can see how this show is so special to me. I get to direct the whole THING now!"

"The Little Sisters of Westwego" are Claire Conti as Reverend Mother Sister Mary Regina, Danielle Wilson as Sister Mary Hubert, Melinda Falgoust as Sister Robert Anne, Anna Toujas as Sister Amnesia, and Monique Abry as Sister Mary Leo.

"My girls are very carefully hand-picked - I would gladly pay to see ANY of them in a one-girl show of their own!" "Uncle" Wayne proudly remarked.

Musical Director Alan Payne agrees. Payne, who musically directed the JPAS Summer Youth Musical AIDA and having just finished playing Bonze in the JPAS production of MADAMA BUTTERFLY, is pleased to be working on NUNSENSE with these five “Little Sisters.”

“The energy of these girls and the intimate setting of this production will definitely make the audience want to sing and dance along!” Payne said.

NUNSENSE A Musical Comedy, Book & Lyrics by Dan Goggin, is sponsored by AT&T and Capitol One. Directed by “Uncle” Wayne Daigrepont. Choreography by Lindsey Price. Musical Direction by Alan Payne with the JPAS Broadway Pit Orchestra. Costumes by Kelly James-Penot and Laura Jordan. Set and Lighting Design by Tonya Moake.
